Juliette made a motion to move the Burrillville Youth Coalition up in the meeting agenda. Newt accepted the motion and Jen second. Motion carried 3-0.
Burrillville Youth Coalition: is interested in a program for children ages 12-17 years old. Beth Nunes states they were looking into the opportunity of working with the Boys and Girls Club to start a middle school/high school afterschool program and they would join forces with the Boys and Girls Club of Woonsocket, but if they do that the club would want to run a full program for children ages 5 thru 17. The coalition would like to become a 504 C3 and start fund raising and gather other donations to start their own program. Beth states, Ed Blanchard is planning a battle of the bands event to help start gathering funding for the program. Eric Tupper
stated that he could get teacher volunteers to assist with the program and work with the children; they would also like to take advantage of the schools facilities to help run the program. For example, rock climbing wall, school gym and other areas in the school. Juliette Lopez-Recinos did advise the coalition to be cautious about their funds and working under the town. Cheri has agreed to schedule a meeting with Beth and Shannon to discuss Burrillville Extended Care’s budget to assist the Burrillville Youth Coalition to move forward and continue with their application for a 504 C3.
Juliette Lopez-Recinos made a motion to support and work with the Burrillville Youth Coalition, Jennifer Briere made the motion and Newt Stevens second the motion. Motion carried 3-0.

Old Business:
Lisa Nault updated the board on April Vacation. They took the children to the movies and Mystic Aquarium. The children had a great time and the enrollment for vacation was average.
Lisa Nault informed the board that the Easter Egg Hunt was a huge turnout and there were more children than any of the past hunts. Lisa suggested purchasing more eggs for future hunts. The Director feels that the eggs could have been spread out more to give the children more time to hunt for the eggs.
Burrillville Extended Care budget has been approved by the Budget Board and the Town Manager has recommend 1/3 of Directors and Administrative Aide salary be supported for 2011-2012 budget, which will come out of the reserve account. Newt asked if Burrillville Extended Care will be able to continue to support the 1/3 out of the reserve account. The Director stated that the program will not be able to continue to support the 1/3 in the future.
Currently there is a profit of 107,000, but that is not up to date. If we calculate 70,000 from wages and also consider benefits, snack, transportation etc. The program will end at a 5,000 net.
New Business:
Lisa Nault reported that the summer program has an estimate of 200 families registered in the program and there is currently an average of 100 children on a daily bases. Juliette Lopez-Recinos asked if there were any families with an outstanding balancing. Lisa Nault informed of one family and the parents are doing everything they can to pay their balance.
The Director handed out an entertainment schedule for Burrillville Extended Care and Spring Lake Beach. The Director informed the board that all of the performers will be utilizing Champlain Hall for their performances and the public will be able to watch the performances there rather than in front of the arcade. Juliette Lopez-Recinos felt that was a great idea.
The Director informed the board that the shade structure at Steere Farm has been sent back to the company to be assessed for damages and to see if it is still under warranty. The Director presented photos of the damages, which displayed worn, rips and pulling.
The Director informed the board of painting that has been done at Burrillville Extended Care, in which the school department has done. Burrillville Extended Care will be paying the school department for their overtime in painting the center.
Lisa Nault informed the board of a summer reading program she would like to start with the children. She has been in contact with the school’s librarians and they have provided her with the children’s summer reading list. Lisa Nault would like to purchase these books for the children to assist with their summer reading. On Monday and Wednesdays the children will have 20 minutes of silent reading scheduled into their day. Newt made a motion to support the purchase of the children summer reading books in the amount of $300.00 or less. Jennifer Briere seconds the motion. Motion carried 3-0.
